Talking in vowels

With a gun stuck in your mouth and the barrel of the gun between your teeth, you can only talk in vowels.
— Chuck Palahniuk, Fight Club, 1996

Long years past I lived for a while in the Midwest on a farm. I learnt to shoot guns, and to drive tractors. I’m not sure which I enjoyed more. For a while a gun just like this hung in my wardrobe. I must have used over a hundred different ones; but this was a favourite. A Ruger, a Super Blackhawk, circa 1960 model, in .44 Magnum.
